Project Development Forum Rules

These Rules apply to the following board: Project Development board, Early Project Feedback, Other Maker Projects board and Completed Games board. However, every one of these forums also have some guidelines that need to be followed.

When posting in the Project Development Forum, you are expected to read, understand the following rule and meet the minimum requirement to post new thread in this forum.

Note: Posting project which contain/deal with religion, politics and/or sex are not allowed. Make sure you post a warning in the header of your thread, though.

Requirement to Open New Thread

Before opening a thread, your post must contain these things:

- Story Synopsis. Your story synopsis must have atleast 150 words. This synopsis needs to cover how your story will flow together, what the character's basic interests in the story are.

- World Development. Your gameworld is where your characters live and adventure, meet new friends/enemies/allies, work, play, fall in love. Your core world will affect all that comes afterward. If you can't write down at least at least 125 words then you may want to rethink your game idea.

- Screenshots. depending on how much you've worked on your project these shots must show more than just the basic and generic town. Show some mapping skills, this skill is key to making a great RPG. Minimum of 6 snapshots showing your mapping skills, eventing skills, and NPC's.

- Character bios, around 3 characters bios are enough. Your characters need to be developed beyond just their archetype and basic personality. A description of around 100 words is required for each bio.

The above is the minimum required before opening a new thread, you are encourage to go beyond the minimum requirement. Any thread which does not meet the requirement will be closed. Closed thread will be reopen only if the Topic Creator decides to update the thread and meet the requirement, contact any GMods/Admin to have your thread reopen.

Note:
Some threads and projects will be allowed in the presentation is well done and/or the OP updates often with a lot of new material.

A note on Demos, please do not put out multiple bug fixes, get some testers, or test it out yourself! Multiple bugfixes irritate players, there are some bugs that persist, but all in all get the best version out and make sure you don't have to go from version .01 to version 1.1 all in that order...

Projects are best served with a small taste, then you update with screenshots or more information, but not a whole new demo. Your project will thank you for it, so will your hosting sites. Players will have less to download and install, while trashing the old one. You will have less to keep track of, and less of your project will have to be made public before you want it to.

Rules For Project Development Forum

The following rules will override any Board Rules.

1) Do not spam
This also applies to everywhere else but don't make pointless post. The following are considered spam:

- One word post like: Cool, great, lol,...

- Flaming such as the "your graphics suck", "am not gonna play this".

Give constructive criticism.

This will be met with a warn. Even if it's your first post, you should be smart enough to read the rules.

2) No Double Posting
It's annoying and it eats (noms) space unnecessarily. Unless you are the topic creator, do not double post. The edit button is here for a reason. Also, topic creator should only double post to bump there thread when they add new content/update to the thread and double posts for content should NOT be in less than 24 hours. If your thread is already at the top then just edit your last post instead of double posting.

3) Critiques
A good critique should point out a flaw in design, implementation, or technique. If you don't want your work subject to an experienced developer looking it over and letting you know what would work, fit, or look better you may as well post your project somewhere else. Improvement of your project via information, feedback, and input from your peers is what this site is for.

The Board Guidelines still applies.
